School & Agency

Information and Resources

Strong relationships with schools and other agencies are vital to our support of young people, enabling all young people in Bedfordshire to have equal access to opportunities.

F4YP works closely with schools and agencies to reach YP who would benefit from our service. This includes 1:1 school visits to meet your YP, assessments and pastoral support plans.

To further our reach we offer assemblies (in person or online video), class visits and school gate promotion. We also have a number of resources available below for you to use with young people and their families.

A Young Persons Journey

At F4YP we know all young people are unique, and it is important we make sure that the support they are given is adapted to meet their individual needs.

I was taken into foster care when I was 9, it wasn’t safe for me to live at home anymore. I was scared and confused.

The foster carers seemed nice, but I was unsure who to trust. I didn’t really understand why I couldn’t go back home. I got angry and would get in trouble at school. I didn’t know why. I was just upset but I didn’t know how to show my feelings. My foster carer got a leaflet about an after-school club I could go to do, with all different sports. There were lots of children there from all different schools and staff that seemed friendly, but I was still scared and confused, and I would get angry there too.

They did other clubs in the school holidays, with loads more fun activities. It was different at F4YP, if I got angry, they didn’t tell me off, they took me somewhere quiet and would play board games with me and give me a chance to talk. They helped me learn to trust people and helped me be happy again.

Young Person

Our service

We aim to:

  • Build Self-confidence

  • Improve emotional well being and mental health

  • Improve social skills and relationships with peers

  • Be a safe place for our young people with trusted adults

  • Support families to engage with services and community support

  • Provide new opportunities that might not otherwise be acessible

Who it’s for

We look to support YP who would benefit from the above support. To identify these young people we have a bursary criteria.

Those who qualify for our bursary criteria can attend most of our provision for free (there are some occasions where there is a small fee to encourage commitment)

Those who do not meet our bursary criteria but would still benefit or like come along can book a “Paid” place. These are still heavily subsidised.

If you have a young person that does not directly meet the criteria, but you think should qualify for a bursary place please contact the team to discuss

School & Agency Referral

F4YP want to support YP you feel may benefit from our services. To start this process you can submit a school/agency referral using the form below:

  • You must have parent/guardian consent to complete our form to comply with GDPR

  • Our form will ask you to consent for data sharing and emergency first aid treatment on behalf of the parent/guardian.

  • Please include any background information that may be relevant in supporting this YP

Following a referral we often conduct 1:1 visits in school as we recognise YP may have SEND, additional needs or emotional needs, and may therefore benefit from meeting a friendly face before attending our provision. We will also use this time to begin an individual pastoral support plan and complete any individual risk assessments that may be needed prior to attending face to face sessions.

We can attend professional meetings for YP, providing a different perspective on the YP and their family.

SCHOOL RESOURCES

Promotional Leaflet & Parent Mail

This can be handed out to YP/parents/carers, giving them a bit more information on the service we offer and the YP who can benefit.

This is a PDF A5 document that can be sent out in parent mail/ Dojo, or attached to emails. It gives parents/carers a brief overview of the clubs we offer and where to sign up.

Its perfect for notice boards and reception desks. This is the flyer we use to hand out at school gates.

This can be printed. We may also have copies available which can be dropped into your school on request (email info@f4yp.org.)

Professionals Resource

Our professionals resource is designed as a more in depth look at our service which can be used with parents/carers to help explain who we are and what we do.
